New Season, new décor. Get your home ready for Autumn and live your cosiest life

Think of Sheepskin throws, gold accents, warm colours, and tree branches.

I may be a summer super fan, but I think it has come to the final point to say farewell to the BBQ’s and rooftop dining.

Have you begun to pull out the woolly jumpers from behind the wardrobe yet? Well, don’t panic as we welcome the season for more indoor hangouts, time spent at home, and lovely warm colours – the cosiest décor season has arrived!

I find I get a fuzzy warm feeling inside when I think about autumn and all the beautiful colours it brings – oranges, bronze, and gold tones. I think of the fireplace on, the warm blankets and cosying up to a good movie, indoors.

You may be thinking about refreshing your winter wardrobe – but here are some really simple ways you can refresh your home to get it ready for those cosy evenings indoors with a hot coco.

Warm colours

Choose warming autumnal paint colours is one of the best ways to bring a cosy feel into your home décor.

Nature-inspired colours such as pops of burnt orange, yellow deep forest greens and room dividers are in this autumn.

If you don’t want something quite as permanent, an affordable way to achieve this is by swapping out bed throws, sofa cushions and warm sofa throws are great choices.

Small touches

Some ways to update your living spaces without it becoming overwhelming is with little additions. If you are looking to upgrade your sockets and switches for example - this is the perfect excuse to give your home a sophisticated finish that is both lasting and will match your autumn décor!

Light up your life

When used correctly, ambient light creates a fantastic environment to relax from an overly stressful day or to have a warm conversation with an old friend. Ambient lighting is often referred to as mood lighting. Adding brass or gold accents with pendant and wall lights is great for lighting up those shorter daylight days when you’ll be using your lights a lot more, and what’s great is that they won’t go out of style once the autumn is over.

 Foliage

Decorating the home with delicate tree branches and colourful gourds is both elegant and autumnal. Branches can be but into vases for a subtler look, or for a more rustic feel go large with some well-placed branches perched about the room.  Just remember not to overdo it or else it will come off looking messy and gimmicky. But when done right a few small accents of nature here and there are a quick and effective ways of effortlessly getting your home ready for the autumn.

Another quick trick you can do is to fill a wide bowl with spices such a clove, cinnamon, star anise and dried fruit. Place this bowl on a coffee or kitchen table and sit back relax and allow the delicious autumn scents to fill your home with rich earthy aromas. You can also choose to put some candles into the bowl. This will create a soft smoky smell that fills your home with the fragrances of Autumn.

Wrap up warm

It’s getting colder by the day and sometimes an extra jumper in the evening just isn’t quite enough. So make sure to outfit your bedrooms and living area with some chunky, woolly blankets and warm throws. Choose warm, deep or natural colours like oatmeal to keep up the autumn vibe. Warm sheep skin rugs and heavy curtains will also add an abundance of warmth to a room, while creating the perfect sung space to warm up it in the evening.

So hopefully now you have some design and décor ideas to fill your home with all the feelings of Autumn! From embracing those warm fiery tones to bringing in a bit of autumn’s aroma into the home.

Go on! Start creating the perfect cosy atmosphere to get you through those colder and darker days! And once the decorating is done it will be that much more enjoyable when you wrap up on the sofa with a warm woolly throw and a hot drink.
